The Working Dog
Mutual Aid Fund

Community Support Pricing

We know a lot of folks are struggling financially and still need — and deserve — help around their homes. That’s why we created The Working Dog Mutual Aid Fund and built it around the idea that neighbors can support neighbors.

Keep reading to learn how it works and how you can take part.

This month we’re sending the extended support funds to Waleed.

Waleed is 17 years old, and he lives in Gaza. 🇵🇸

Before Israel’s attacks began in October of 2023, Waleed was a student. He now he supports eleven immediate family members: his parents and his siblings, who range in age from 10 to 24 years old.

Every day, the family searches for food, water, and firewood in attempt to survive the ongoing genocide. Due to price gouging, his family needs about $50 a day to buy flour, $40 a day to buy vegetables, and other funds to buy other necessities like soap.

Waleed originally reached out to Working Dog via our Instagram account and has been chatting with Hank since. You can donate directly to Waleed’s GoFundMe by clicking on the image.

  • Our community support pricing model empowers our clients to choose the rates that are accessible to their own circumstances.

If your situation requires a lower rate, choose one of the “Supported By Community” rates on the job request form, or simply reach out to us. We’re always down to talk trades, payment plans, or other creative ways of making sure you’re taken care of.

If your situation allows for more flexibility, we encourage you to support your neighbors and choose one of the “Community Supporter” rates on the job request form or contribute directly to the fund.

  • We divide the Mutual Aid Fund into two branches:

    1. Community Support Pricing

This pool directly offsets the cost of services for clients who need financial assistance. If you’ve contributed by booking a “supporter” rate—or donated to the fund outright—your money goes here to help someone else afford a clean yard, a working fence, or whatever care they need.

    2. Extended Support Fund

This part stretches beyond Working Dog jobs. It helps neighbors with rent, surgery costs, and supports other mutual aid projects and grassroots organizations. It is supported by direct contributions to the fund, excess funds in the Community Support bucket. at the end of the year, and by a monthly contribution of 5% of WDM’s net profits.

If you want to learn even more about how the money flows into and between these two pots of cash, we made this handy flowchart.

  • We’re committed to openness, and Working Dog doesn’t keep a cent of the Mutual Aid Fund for profit. Everything contributed goes to subsidizing services or to external support efforts.

We put 5% of our profits every moth into the Fund.

We share detailed fund info in our quarterly financial reports, and we’re always happy to answer questions.
